Why we built Kuli Kuli

Kuli Kuli started with a small frustration. We were far from home, hungry, and trying to order something good from a menu that every translator made harder to understand.

At first, we wondered whether this was worth building. Translation tools already existed. But travel needs more than word-by-word translation. It needs context, patience, and a little help right when curiosity shows up.

When people travel, they are more curious than usual: about a dish, a shrine note, a medicine label, a receipt, a sentence on a wall. We hope Kuli Kuli can be useful in those small moments, before the moment passes.
